Practical guide

Compare proposal software using one complete task

A feature checklist is a starting point; a shared task shows the switching effort.

ContractCanvas insights

Choose the decision

Use the same sample engagement in each method: three deliverables, two effort roles, a fee and one added workshop. Include the current document-and-spreadsheet process as an alternative. It may solve the problem adequately.

Record the operating detail

Note setup time, plan or licence, assistance, manual copying and exported output. Check whether internal costs stay private and whether the earlier approved terms remain available after revision. Distinguish a native function from a workaround.

Treat missing evidence fairly

A vendor page that omits a feature does not prove the product lacks it. Mark the question unverified until tested or confirmed. Vendor claims, user anecdotes and your own task observations are different kinds of evidence.

Decide whether switching helps

Include training, migration and existing approval habits in the comparison. ContractCanvas’s hypothesis is that a shared commercial specification helps keep scope, costs and versions aligned. The local demonstration makes that hypothesis testable; it does not establish superior customer performance.
