Canada’s consulting revenue grew while cost pressure continued

What the 2024 Statistics Canada release can and cannot tell a consulting software team.

The published figures

Statistics Canada’s January 15, 2026 release reports CAD 39.9 billion in 2024 operating revenue for management, scientific and technical consulting services, up 6.3%. Expenses reached CAD 31.3 billion and the operating profit margin was 21.7%. These are sector figures for the stated period, not ContractCanvas results.

A question for engagement owners

The figures make effort and scope discipline a relevant research topic. They do not show which firms have a proposal-version problem or would buy another tool. A useful interview asks about a recent revision, the time required and who bore the additional cost.

Avoid a false market calculation

Industry revenue is not a count of eligible software accounts. A reachable market estimate needs a defined segment, firm counts, workflow fit and purchasing evidence. Dividing consulting revenue by a subscription price would create a meaningless buyer estimate.

Use the briefing in discovery

Bring a concrete workshop-change example to the conversation. Ask whether planned effort and client terms stay aligned and which existing tools already solve that problem. Treat the answer as new evidence rather than assuming that broad cost pressure validates ContractCanvas’s offer.
